چکیده

ABSTRACT Novel summary statistics beyond the standard 2-point correlation function (2PCF) are necessary to capture full astrophysical and cosmological information from small-scale (r < 30h?1Mpc) galaxy clustering. However, analysis of beyond-2PCF on small scales is challenging because we lack appropriate treatment observational systematics for arbitrary field. In this paper, develop a forward modelling pipeline wide range using large high-fidelity AbacusSummit light cones that account many systematic effects as well remain flexible computationally efficient enable posterior sampling. We apply our model approach fully realistic mock catalog demonstrate can recover unbiased constraints underlying galaxy–halo connection two separate statistics: 2PCF novel k-th nearest neighbour (kNN) statistics, which sensitive functions all orders. will its strong constraining power extended models cosmology in follow up papers. expect become powerful when applying upcoming surveys such DESI where leverage multitude across redshift maximally extract non-linear scales.

The Dependence of Velocity and Clustering Statistics on Galaxy Properties

We use a combination of N-body simulations of the hierarchical clustering of dark matter and semi-analytic modelling of the physics of galaxy formation to probe the relationship between the galaxy distribution and the mass distribution in a flat, cold dark matter universe with mean density Ω0 = 0.3 (ΛCDM). We find that the statistical properties of the galaxy distribution in the model, as quant...

Statistical Analysis of Galaxy Surveys-IV: An objective way to quantify the impact of superstructures on galaxy clustering statistics

For galaxy clustering to provide robust constraints on cosmological parameters and galaxy formation models, it is essential to make reliable estimates of the errors on clustering measurements. We present a new technique, based on a spatial Jackknife (JK) resampling, which provides an objective way to estimate errors on clustering statistics. Our approach allows us to set the appropriate size fo...

Statistical analysis of galaxy surveys – I. Robust error estimation for two-point clustering statistics

We present a test of different error estimators for two-point clustering statistics, appropriate for present and future large galaxy redshift surveys. Using an ensemble of very large dark matter CDM N-body simulations, we compare internal error estimators (jackknife and bootstrap) to external ones (Monte Carlo realizations). For three-dimensional clustering statistics, we find that none of the ...

Evolution of Faint Galaxy Clustering

The UH8K wide field camera of the CFHT was used to image 0.68 deg2 of sky. From these images, ∼20,000 galaxies were detected to completeness magnitudes V < 23.5 and I < 22.5. The angular correlation function of these galaxies is well represented by the parameterization ω(θ) = AW θ−δ . The slope δ ' −0.8 shows no significant variation over the range of magnitude. The amplitude AW decreases with ...
